The Jura WE8 Coffee Machine is part of the “W” family. If a Jura model that has a larger member related to it, has the prefix of a “W”. We assume that the “W” means wider, since the machines with a “W” are wider and taller. Adding the ability to take more water and beans and since the grind bin bucket is bigger too, grinds need to be emptied less often.
To clarify, the WE8 is the wider, larger version of the E8. Particularly suitable for a medium-sized office where coffee preparations with milk outnumber black coffees. Furthermore, the machine has two “sections”. One dedicated to coffee, another dedicated to coffee with milk, and it’s various frothed varieties. The coffee maker has the TÜV-certified hygiene guarantee, but we still recommend daily cleaning of the frother to make sure it always producers consistent frothed milk.
The WE8 has been updated as of first quarter 2019 and now called the WE8 chrome which added in a few more programmable features, and the new style milk frother.

Just a note, the marketing material claims the machine makes a flat white. Jura makes a distinction between flat white and cappuccino by determining when milk is added to the brew. Particularly, a cappuccino for them is defined as milk first. While a flat white is set as milk first. We at Quaffee feel this is extending the definition a little too far.
Note about 2022 update
The 2022 update’s biggest change is to the milk frother. Jura introduced this newer frother with the S8, then the E8 and now the WE8 has the new milk frother. There are also some programming changes so that the WE8 matches the new Jura standard of operation.
